Collection: The people (and creatures) in my head

Through loosely structured images and somewhat crude line work, I attempt to coax out the characters that inhabit my interior world.  Like letting some air out of a balloon, painting releases pressure and allows room for quiet.  Conversely, there is much to be learned from the images that appear, like Soothsayers.  The human or human-like form can convey a message simply through posture and expression.  The colours that appear in the final layer suggest mood and emotion.   I hope to incite in the viewer a sense of recognition, discovery, perhaps a touch of uneasiness and a somewhat compelling need to look again.  I am not concerned with realistic representation.  In fact I am happiest when a painting achieves a kind of jagged, twitchy finish.  As a child’s creation might.
